60 killed in Ukraine school bombing

The mayor of the Luhansk region fears that 70 people have been killed in a Russian bombing of a school in the eastern Ukrainian village of Belohorivka. Two bodies have already been recovered from the school building. Another 58 people are feared to have been killed when they were crushed under bricks and stones.

Reuters quoted Governor Sergei Gaidai as saying that Russian forces had dropped a bomb on a school on Saturday afternoon, where 90 people had taken refuge. The bombing set the whole building on fire.

In a telegram, Gaidai said, “The fire was put out in about four hours. After clearing the rubble, only two bodies were found.
